“Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?” Asked Alice. “That depends a good deal nowhere you want to get to.” Replied the Cheshire Cat. “I don’t much care where” said Alice. The Cat replied, “Then it doesn’t matter which way you go.” ~Lewis Caroll, Alice in Wonderland
Why are you listening to others, to society, to your mother, to your past, or to anyone but your own inner truth and light? Luckily, Alice comes into her own throughout her journey in Wonderland and takes ownership into where she wants to go. My book is a nod to her journey; a guidebook if you will, of the tools and skills that I learned in my own personal journey (the good, the bad and the UGLY) that lead me to become a therapist and teach the tools and skills to others so that you can chart your own course!
When you speak a dream or goal out loud, you are more likely to follow through. What messages from the past have gotten in the way of your spoken dreams? These are the types of questions that I will include in my book, Down the Rabbit Hole and Back: Stop Believing the Lies and Start Living Your Truth, due out early fall 2018.
This is a huge endeavor/goal to write a book (bigger than I expected) and I have been speaking it out loud since last October. Here are some questions (directly from my book), to ask of yourself to dig deeper into who you are and challenge the lies and decide to be who YOU want to be!
1) When you were a child what were you told by parents and siblings teachers, relatives, and friends of what you “should” be?
2) What images were projected on to you by society culture?
3) What limitations were you told that you were; for example I was told the girls should/shouldn’t… Or I was told boys should/shouldn’t…
4) Make a list of all of the qualities that you were told you you should have on a personal, physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual basis?
5) What positive and negative qualities do you believe you have?
6) What positive & negative qualities do you believe that others think of you?
7) Make a list of all of the qualities that you lack but wish you had.
8) Is the above list really true? Really? You lack things on the above list? Challenge it here!
9) What is your image of perfection? What were you taught by society parents teachers etc. about perfectionism? Do you have expectations on yourself to be perfect? Why or Why not?? What do you should on yourself about?
