Restoring Balance: Relax and Breathe
Life can get pretty crazy and restoring balance may seem out of reach. Sometimes it’s caused by the stress of unpleasant circumstances, tragedy or health challenges and other times the busyness of regular, day-to-day life can be enough to put you over the edge. Whatever is contributing to your sense of overwhelm, often the easiest, healthiest, and most effective actions you can take in restoring balance are to just relax and breathe.
Tips for Restoring Balance: Relax and Breathe
1) Find a quiet space, free from distraction. It doesn’t have to be complicated; even a bathroom with the door closed will do.
2) Close your eyes, breathe deeply, hold for a moment, and slowly exhale. Repeat this step 3 to 5 times or until you feel your body start to relax. Then repeat it a few more times.
3) Each time you breathe in, allow your mind to be filled with thoughts of peace, love, serenity and joy.
4) Each time you breathe out, let go of lingering stress, frustration, irritation, or exhaustion.
Whenever you feel your life, schedule, other people, etc. infringing on your general sense of relaxation and life balance, be sure to repeat the four steps above. This exercise only takes a few minutes and you will be amazed at how quickly you can return to a place of feeling calm and grounded, even amid the chaos! Sometimes, it pays to restore balance and just relax and breathe.
