6 More Tips for Recognizing a Narcissist
1) They enjoy having nice things and feel entitled them, typically expecting others to give and for them to just receive .
2) Appearance is everything to them. Not only personal appearance but emotional appearance. Making sure everyone knows how hard they work, how much they make monetarily, how much they have and how deserving they are of what they have.
3) They are very popular on social media—and every single picture of them is great. Even though they can have low self-esteem at the core, you would never ever know it. They have no humility and pride is everything.
4) They are hyper-sensitive to criticism. This is key in the fragility of the ego. They simply cannot be wrong, or be responsible, therefore, you cannot give them even constructive criticism. They have no ability to see themselves as less than and can be quite delusional in their “truth” of who they are, which can be mistaken for high self-esteem.
5) They love to make excuses. This goes hand in hand with number 4 above. They cannot be wrong and will tend to get extremely defensive and then go on the attack in a rabid manner (typically by tearing down others) to prove that it is not them or their fault.
6) They leave a trail of wrecked personal and professional relationships and circumstances in their path. This can be key in recognizing someone with little insight and ability to take personal responsibility. You will get a person with a low attention span, spotty resume and excuses as to why the last relationship broke up or boss “let them go”.

Overall this wreckage that they leave behind has nothing to do with them and their behaviors and in their minds, has everything to do with everyone else and circumstances outside of themselves. When in a personal relationship with someone like this, the partner will typically feel like they have been beaten down and are personally in a million little pieces. They believe the web of lies and alternate reality because the narcissist is a pro at brainwashing.
If you see these signs in a boss or a relationship, don’t walk, RUN!
