Taking action is better when it is thought out and not coming from a place of emotional reactivity. When we are emotionally charged, our frontal cortex shuts down and rational thinking (cause & effect) goes out the window. We go into flight, fight or freeze.
You have probably heard of waiting 24 hours after you have become emotional about something, before you respond. This allows for your rational thinking to kick back in again and for you to make a rational response; one that you won’t regret.
