It is so easy to get caught up in the bustle of everyday living. You know, that place in life where even the most minor of monkey wrenches throws itself smack in the course of the day and has us feel like nothing is going our way? Staying in this space is no fun, especially if experienced for longer than just a few minutes. What is a sure-fire way to combat these feelings? Turn to gratitude, giving, and service. In other words: approach life as a playground for expressing genuine thanks. Sound counter-intuitive? That’s because it is—but, that doesn’t stop it from working!
Tap Into Your Inner Joy with these 3 Ways of Embracing Gratitude
1) Find someone—anyone—to serve, even if for just a few moments. Stepping outside of our own lives is incredibly effective in giving us the perspective we need to make personal adjustments. Besides, serving others feels simply amazing;
2) Stop whatever you’re doing and physically write down (don’t just think in your mind) at least two to three things in your life that are working. Often times, a shift in focus is all that is in order;
3) Immerse yourself in nature and express gratitude and thanks for all of nature’s creations. If it’s not possible to physically be in nature, do a search online for pictures of nature’s beauty, majesty and pure awesomeness.
These are not exercises intended to tell you simply to “buck up” and “get over it.” No, these are effective and powerful tools to support you in creating an actual shift in how you experience your life. You don’t have to take my word for it, though. Go ahead and give these 3 ways of embracing gratitude a try and see for yourself the difference they make in your life!
