17 Tips for Recognizing a Narcissist (Part 3 of 3)
Narcissism is a challenge all around. That is why I wanted to write some blogs on indicators that you might have a narcissist in your life. They are tough and exhausting to deal with and it can be difficult to know how to effectively interact with them while keeping the relationship intact, if needed (such as with a boss). Here are Part 1 and Part 2 of this series, if you missed them.
5 Final Tips for Recognizing a Narcissist
1) They may be more likely to cheat and lie than those with other personality types, which leads directly to number 2 below.
2) They do not honor boundaries and do not think that the general rules and laws of society apply to them. They will justify their actions when they cross a line that is socially or even legally unaccaeptable.
3) They have no idea that this is narcissistic behavior as they have no insight or ability to see themselves, almost like the brain is broken somehow. Because of this you will NEVER be able to understand a narcissist because your brain does not think this way.
4) You find yourself resorting to flattering a narcissist just to maintain the peace. You might find yourself feeling like you are going crazy or doubting yourself and your feelings and perceptions.
5) For some reason men are more likely to be narcissists than women.
If you suspect that you may be in a personal or professional relationship with a narcissist, it may be time to make some changes. While sometimes being in a relationship with a narcissist is necessary for survival, it really is not worth your mental health to stay in any type of abusive relationship. It can be a long process to recover yourself after being in a narcissist relationship, but it can be done. You can build your life and your emotional health and come back from being lost in the world of a narcissist.
