6 Mindful Ways To Dig Deep Into Happiness
Often, when life is getting crazy or we’re just feeling a touch (or more) of the blues, all we need is a little, natural pick-me-up to fill us with happiness on a moment’s notice. One of the most effective ways to accomplish this is through our bodies’ amazing system of senses. Check out the suggestions below!
Here are 6 mindful ways to get into happiness:
1) Go outside and pick a flower. Look at the flower carefully. Notice every detail. Now close your eyes and “see” the flower with your fingers. Now smell the flower. Notice the scent.
2) Stand outside in rain or shine and breathe in the fresh scent that fills the air. Tip: you can accomplish this same scent by watering a flower or flowerbed if it doesn’t happen to be the rainy season; all you really need is some water and some soil!
3) Run your hand along a soft sweater, blanket or your favorite furry pet. Repeat the process in step one.
3) Pick a favorite treat such as a lollipop or piece of chocolate. Close your eyes and just hold it on your tongue. Notice the flavor, texture, and taste.
4) Listen to your favorite song. Even if you don’t have time to listen to the whole song, just close your eyes for a few minutes and just be with that song in the moment.
5) Picture someone in your mind who you love to spend time with and imagine the two of you taking a walk in your favorite outdoor spot—or your favorite place you already enjoy hanging out with them.
Lifting your spirits and allowing yourself to quickly get mindfully happy can be incredibly simple. Try these suggestions this week to see for yourself. What are some other things you can think of to add to the list above? I’d love to hear your ideas in the comments below!
