~Practice slowing down an everyday activity and savor the experience of not rushing it.
~Find a gentle way to distract yourself.
~Get up and move your body. Yoga is an amazing practice for calming the mind and body.
~Make room in your day to do things you enjoy and don’t cause you stress. (Like take a nap!)
~Spend time laughing out loud at something that cracks you up.
~Get some perspective on your situation by talking to an objective party and ask yourself, will this be important in 6 months, 12 months or in 5 years, will you even remember the situation? Probably not.
~Mentally confront your “worst nightmare,” and consider what practical steps you would take if it actually occurred. Worst case hardly ever happens so if you play the “what if” game, you have to play to the end by asking yourself, “then what?”.
~Call or get together with a friend you enjoy but haven’t talked to in a while.
~Imagine a positive outcome to the situation that is causing you anxiety.
~If you’ve taken on too much, give yourself permission to back out of a commitment that really doesn’t serve you.
