~If you’re having difficulty being okay with a mistake you’ve made, create an action plan for how to keep from making the mistake again in the future.
~Check to see if you’re reading the situation correctly or if you might be jumping to conclusions. ( I teach the skill called reality testing in my practice.)
~Ask yourself if you’re catastrophizing a situation by thinking a situation is more disastrous than it really might be. (Learning concrete tools on how to change thinking errors can really help to decrease anxiety).
~Forgive yourself if you handled a situation in a less-than-ideal manner. Manage that perfectionism expectation-it is unrealistic!
~If you find yourself triggered by someone else’s behavior, practice letting it go and accepting that you might not ever know the background behind their behavior.
~Consider if your anxiety is a reaction to change.
~Practice making friends with the reality that there is a gap between your real self and your ideal self, which is the case for everyone.
~Consider if your anxiety is being caused by you comparing yourself to others…then stop it! You will always lose if you practice this negative coping technique. It will rob you of your happiness every time!
~Focus on what’s going right in your life. Start a gratitude journal!
~Eliminate something (or several something’s!) from your “to-do” list for the day.
